Friends, Family and fishing, with community in mind

Created in Yellowknife , NWT, Canada in 2017, NWT Arctic Anglers started as an idea between two friends to get families out ice fishing, and help the local community. They decided to hold a family ice fishing derby, and donate any money raised to a local children's organization in need.

A simple Facebook post calling out for interest soon gathered momentum, and despite a near -40 degree Celsius day, the 1st annual NWT Arctic Anglers family Fishing Derby registered close to 100 people!

Due to the proceeds raised at this inaugural event, the NWT Arctic Anglers were able to donate over $2500 to Camp Connections, an on the land camp run by the Foster Family Coalition of the NWT, recently devastated by a summer of wild fires. That donation was used to help rebuild the camp!

Realizing the success of the derby, NWT Arctic Anglers was registered as an official non profit organization, and some more friends were brought in to help.

Since it was created, NWT Arctic Anglers has held 3 family fishing derbies, registered hundreds of teams, given out thousands of dollars worth of prizes and donated tens of thousands of dollars back into the local community!
